About HIDA
HIDA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, scientific and educational organization dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia.
Our members are educators, psychologists, physicians, individuals with dyslexia, and parents who have dealt with learning disability issues within local public and private schools. Many of our nearly 200 members are actively involved in the diagnosis and remediation of dyslexia. Over the past few years, we have developed a network of local school officials, parents, attorneys, and other professionals who are accustomed to helping parents navigate the school system.

Mission
HIDA’s mission is to increase awareness of dyslexia in the community, provide support for parents and teachers, and promote teacher training. We also provide tutoring and testing referrals and information about other resources in Hawaii.
In 2004, HIDA sponsored its first contest for young artists with dyslexia/specific learning disability and/or ADHD. Showcasing the creativity of these young artists helps HIDA to further its goal of supporting individuals with dyslexia and related learning differences so that every individual is able to achieve their potential and society as a whole benefits from the contributions of all learners.
